EMA provided MEP design services for Sunnyvale ISD's new intermediate school. This new school is the District's first explicitly designed to support how Sunnyvale students and teachers interact with each other. The campus is divided into three equally-sized learning communities or houses. Dedicated spaces for art, science, music and special education open onto the commons and covered outdoor learning areas are provided on both levels. Other areas include the large, open, light-filled cafeteria and a gymnasium/tornado shelter. With ample interior glass and few corridors, this school presents unobstructed visibility with sound separation, enhancing the teaching and learning experience for all.
