Job Summary:

The Director of IT is responsible for leading and managing the IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives for a 250+ employee engineering firm with a corporate headquarters and multiple regional offices. This role ensures that IT systems support business operations, engineering workflows, and remote collaboration while maintaining high levels of security, efficiency, and scalability. The Director of IT will oversee multi-site networking, cloud adoption, engineering applications, ERP systems, and IT support services.

Strategic IT Leadership & Multi-Site Management:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with company growth and operational goals.
  • Standardize IT infrastructure, policies, and cybersecurity frameworks across all offices.
  • Ensure seamless IT operations for 250+ employees, including remote work capabilities.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, procurement strategy, and vendor relationships.
  • Provide strategic oversight of data governance, compliance, and IT risk management.

Infrastructure, Networking & Cloud Computing:

  • Oversee IT infrastructure across corporate HQ and multiple regional offices, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Manage multi-site network architecture (LAN/WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, wireless) to support collaboration.
  • Implement and optimize cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) for scalability and efficiency.
  • Oversee data center operations, backup solutions, and disaster recovery planning.

Cybersecurity & Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies to protect sensitive engineering and business data.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (NIST, ISO 27001, CMMC for government contracts).
  • Implement identity and access management (IAM), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and endpoint security.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, penetration testing, and security awareness training.

Software, Systems, & Engineering Application Support:

  • Oversee engineering software support (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Manage ERP, CRM, and project management systems to improve business efficiency.
  • Ensure regional offices have access to centralized engineering data and cloud applications.
  • Lead implementation of automation, data analytics, and AI-driven solutions for business intelligence.

IT Support & Helpdesk Operations:

  • Lead an IT team providing support for 250+ employees across multiple locations.
  • Implement IT service management (ITSM) solutions to streamline support requests.
  • Ensure rapid response to IT issues and provide user training on best practices.

Project Management & Digital Transformation:

  • Drive IT initiatives such as cloud migration, ERP upgrades, and cybersecurity enhancements.
  • Oversee technology adoption and automation projects to enhance engineering and business processes.
  • Manage IT integrations for office expansions, acquisitions, or relocations.

Education/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience in engineering, construction, or manufacturing firms is highly preferred.
  • Expertise in multi-site networking, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and IT governance.
  • Experience implementing ERP, CRM, and enterprise collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, Zoom).
  • Proven ability to manage IT budgets, vendors, and strategic technology roadmaps.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
