Experience:

Job Summary:

The Healthcare Plumbing Designer is a mid-level position for someone who has experience with the design process, either at EMA or elsewhere. Should be familiar designing plumbing systems for healthcare facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory codes, and the specialized needs of medical environments. The Healthcare Plumbing Designer serves to focus primarily on the design of healthcare-related projects using Revit and AutoCAD software.


Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities include:

  • Learn EMA’s design process to get projects to 100% with little to no help.
  • Prepare system layouts and detailed drawings using software such as AutoCAD and REVIT.  
  • Develop plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary drainage, storm drainage, medical gases, and other specialized systems for healthcare facilities.
  • Preparation of detailed design documents.
  • Specification writing/editing.
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, and contractors to integrate plumbing designs into over project plans.  
  • Ensure designs comply with local, state, and national building codes, healthcare facility guidelines, and plumbing codes.
  • Development of system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings.
  • Take photos and record field work via pen and paper or stylus and tablet to accurately describe existing conditions on a site visit.
  • Conduct field work as needed for design which may include but is not limited to driving to a job site, extensive walking, climbing on ladders, crawling through crawlspaces, attic spaces, over parapet walls, and walking on a roof.

Education/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • EIT / PE preferred.
